I think I'm going to switch pediatric dentists offices. The dentist is great. How can she not be, her name is Happy! The owner of the practice though is not quite on point enough for us. don't get me wrong, the office is NICE with all the state of the art technology and a great play area and 2 xbox's for the kids. They can watch any movie they want while they get their teeth worked on and the assistants are great BUT I was looking through magazines in the waiting room earlier while Kaden was getting a couple fillings and in between the "parent's" magazine and the "redbook" was a MAXIM! If anyone knows what maxim is, they know it's pretty much soft porn. I saw it once back in high school and it was disgusting. I told the receptionist and she said that the owner of the practice brushed off the other complaints and is keeping it with all the other magazines. Well when no one was looking, I threw it in the trash. I had to do something! I can't even handle the thought of a child seeing those pages. What do you think? Should I write a letter to the owner? Should I switch practices? I'm thinking for SURE on the letter but do I really want to go through the trouble of switching?
Maybe its time.

I think it was great you threw it away. I would definitely write a letter to the owner and then depending on his reaction decide if you want you to continue giving this establishment your business.
Just whatever you do, don't switch without letting them know why.
Good for you!!! I think you should definitely switch dentists and write a letter to the owner. A decent man would never place matter that is so offensive in public place, let alone where children can view it. And good for you for throwing it out!!!
I am in aw that they would really have a magazine like that in a childrens office..or any office for that matter! I give you extreme props for throwing it away. I would do the same and I would let them know your feelings while writing them a letter and letting them know the reasons you are consdidering switching.
I totally agree with everyone else about writing the letter. There are many great dentists to pick from rather than deal with the smut at the office and worry about your kids picking it up.
Wow. I say start with a phone call and follow up with a letter. You'll really see how important your business is to him . . .
*Wow. I sound like my mother.
Write you letter. Tell him that you disapprove and that you are upset at his choice of reading material in the waiting room. Ask him why he has this particular magazine. Tell him you threw out the old copy and if there is another copy in the waiting room at your next visit, you will switch dentist. Then switch. I agree with Mike and Debbie that I question the decency of this man. Tell him to take the magazine to his home and put it on his coffee table. I'm all for telling it how you see it.
Love you. Admire you.
